The NAACP Image Awards will premiere The Fashion Pull Up Tuesday, February 16th at 8:00 pm PST on YouTube (YouTube.com/NAACPImageAwards). The five-episode web series is an exploration of the most-notable fashion moments from the NAACP Image Awards’ red carpet. Hosted by celebrity wardrobe stylists, GooGoo Atkins and Apuje Kalu, the show will highlight the evolution of fashion from the Black perspective.
“With the show being completely virtual this year, we lose one of the most exciting moments of the season — the red carpet. The Fashion Pull Up brings the red carpet into the season by reliving some of our favorite red carpet moments of the past twenty years” said David S. Hargrett, Executive Producer, Digital Content.
GooGoo Atkins began her career as a wardrobe stylist over a decade ago. Her passion for fashion advocates for women of all shapes and sizes. Not only does she have a keen eye for style, but she also knows how to look good on a budget. You may have seen the fashion “Goo-ru’s” work on Wendy Raquel Robinson, Vanessa Williams, Michelle Williams, Laz Alonso, Morris Chestnut, Avant, Kierra Sheard, and her sisters, Eric & Tina Campbell of the gospel group, Mary Mary.
Apuje Kalu is a wardrobe stylist and creative director whose passion for fashion led him to Los Angeles 10 years ago. Since he has worked with Ne-Yo, Yvonne Orji, Marsai Martin, Trevor Jackson, Stephan James, and Jay Ellis, just to name a few.
These fashion experts will discuss the evolution of style, how styling for our culture impacts clients as well as stylists, memorable fashion moments, and the celebration of Black excellence at the NAACP Image Awards.
