Let’s take it back to the 51st NAACP Image Awards. The room was full of different shades of melanin rocking from side to side with their braids, curls, waves, and locs. Jill Scott, also known as Jilly from Philly, reminded us of our love for ‘Who Is Jill Scott? Words and Sounds Vol. 1’. For the 20th Anniversary of her debut album, she performed “Do You Remember” and “Is It The Way”. Scott made us feel how timeless her music truly was as “Is It the Way” brought everyone together as the entire audience sang in harmony as a choir. Her neo-soul performance moved Tracee Ellis Ross’s to tears and merriment to the in-person and at-home audience.
